Conservatory Piano Fund

Whether a student studies theatre, dance, opera, composition, or piano performance, pianos are a part of every student’s education at the UMKC Conservatory. Pianos are used in rehearsals and a variety of performances including solo recitals in voice, piano and just about every instrument, chamber music, large ensembles such as orchestras and in accompanying choral works. White Recital Hall at the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center is the home for many of these works. Nearly every performance in White uses a concert grand in some capacity, which is why having the highest quality piano’s available for students, faculty, and visiting artists is a priority within our curriculum.

Earlier this year, the Richard J. Stern Foundation for the Arts provided the UMKC Conservatory with a generous grant of $75,000 to use for the purchase of new pianos. The conservatory has already raised $16,000, but it is our hope to raise additional funds in order to purchase a new concert grand piano for White Recital Hall.
